Four Tennessee Vols named to Preseason All-SEC team

The Tennessee Volunteers are gearing up for an important season in 2024. The team has high expectations with young star Nico Iamaleava under center and James Pearce leading the defense.

While expecting a playoff berth may be a stretch this season, anything is possible with the expanded field. Nobody can argue the talent that is on this roster, and that was evidenced by the team having four players selected to preseason All-SEC teams. The All-SEC teams are voted on by coaches before every season.

Representing the Vols, offensive lineman Cooper Mays and edge rusher James Pearce were picked for First-Team honors. Wide receiver Squirrel White and running back Dylan Sampson were selected for Third-Team.

Pearce is thought to be a potential top-five draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mays is one of the best interior linemen in the country, and White is a solid veteran receiver who will be looked to to make big plays. Sampson has big shoes to fill now that Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright are gone, but the speedster looked up to the task last season.

One has to assumed Iamaleava will be on one of these preseason teams next season.
