Lady Vols: Should Kellie Harper be fired?

With the basketball season coming close to an end, the University of Tennessee will once again be placed in a precarious position with the women’s basketball program. Do they continue with the Kellie Harper experience, or do they look for a fresh start? Kellie Harper took over the program in 2019/2020 where the season was cut short due to COVID so no NCAA tournament was held at all. The following three years resulted in a second-round exit, a Sweet 16 exit, and lastly another Sweet 16 exit. This year, however, the Lady Vols are on the verge of missing the NCAA Tournament completely, which by a program standard is not deemed acceptable.

The Lady Vols are 16-10 to this point with a conference record of 9-5 with only two remaining regular season games. Oh, and one of those games is on the road at South Carolina. So, I say all of this to ask a question- Do we move on from Kellie Harper and her 88-39 overall record with Tennessee? Do we start to see what our options are outside of the Pat Summitt coaching tree? Who are some of your suggestions that are out there? Do you think we should make a call to Dawn Staley and make her say no? This team also loses players like Rickea Jackson, Jasmine Powell, Tamari Key, and possibly Jewel Spear after this season. What ground has been covered in the recruitment process to replenish this team? Let me know in the comments what you think about all of this! And, as always GO BIG ORANGE.
