Tennessee Football continues to find a way to win

The Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night by a score of 24-17, and as Josh Heupel said, “Hell of a day to wear the orange.” For the 3rd week in a row, the Vols were held scoreless in the first half, but thanks to elite defense and halftime adjustments the Vols were able to rally and win an important game.

The win moves Tennessee to 6-1 on the season and back into the top-10 as the Vols came in at #7 in today’s new AP Top 25. The Vols now have their second bye week before hosting Kentucky on November 2nd.

It’s hard not to feel pretty good about this team right now. The biggest concern is clearly the offensive struggles and Nico not being as effective as we hoped he would be so far. However, Nico and the offense as a whole made enough plays to take down the Tide. Furthermore, the defense is elite and I don’t think it can be disputed any more. The most points they have given up in 7 games is 19 and for back to back weeks they kept the team in the game before the offense got into rhythm.

The bottom line is Josh Heupel found a way to beat Florida and Alabama in the same year for the 2nd time in his tenure. There is not too many better ways to gain favor in the eyes of Vol Nation, and yet again everything still sits in front of the Vols the rest of the way. Here’s to a full year of having bragging rights against the Gators and now the Crimson Tide, and I think a resounding thank you is in order from Tennessee fans to Joshua Kenneth Heupel.
