2024 schedule released for Tennessee football: Initial thoughts

The Tennessee Vols now know what their schedule will look like in 2024. The entire schedule for each SEC team was released on Wednesday night.

The full schedule is as follows:

  • August 31: vs. Chattanooga (Knoxville)

  • September 7: vs. NC State (Charlotte)

  • September 14: vs. Kent State (Knoxville)

  • September 21: at Oklahoma (Norman, Okla.)

  • September 28: OPEN

  • October 5: at Arkansas (Fayetteville, Ark.)

  • October 12: vs. Florida (Knoxville)

  • October 19: vs. Alabama (Knoxville)

  • October 26: OPEN

  • November 2: vs. Kentucky (Knoxville)

  • November 9: vs. Mississippi State (Knoxville)

  • November 16: at Georgia (Athens, Ga.)

  • November 23: vs. UTEP (Knoxville)

  • November 30: at Vanderbilt (Nashville)

The Vols kick things off against FCS opponent Chattanooga. Then, the Vols head down to Charlotte, NC to take on the NC State Wolfpack in a neutral site game. There will be a ton of Vol fans in attendance anyway, and I think the Vols should have enough firepower to get a win.

After that, the Vols get one more cupcake at home against Kent State before heading to Oklahoma. The team gets a bye after the battle in Norman.

After the first bye, the Vols have a game in Fayetteville against the Razorbacks before going back to Knoxville for 4 in a row. Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State all come to Knoxville consecutively- the goal should be to win 3 of these.

Finally, the stretch run has the Vols going to Athens to take on the Bulldogs, welcoming UTEP to town, and then taking on the Commodores in Nashville.

Overall, I like this schedule. I think the 4 consecutive home games in the back end of the schedule will be a godsend. At Oklahoma and at Georgia are the toughest games on the schedule, and we should probably expect Alabama to be Alabama once again.

I see an absolutel floor of 7-5, with a ceiling of 10-2. Agree or disagree? Let us know!
