Tennessee Titans set to reveal throwback uniforms for 2023
If you haven’t heard by now, the Tennessee Titans will debut new digs on Sunday night.
For the first time in years, the Titans will bust out the Houston Oiler-themed throwbacks. Fans have been awaiting this news for years, and they will finally get their wish. Due to NFL rules that prohibited teams from wearing multiple different helmets, the team had been unable to wear the classic baby blue gear.
Former Texan JJ Watt is not thrilled about the team wearing the uniforms, but his logic is flawed. It’s not like the Titans arbitrarily decided to wear another team’s uniforms- the Adams family owned the Oilers, and now they own the Titans. The Houston Oilers moved to Nashville and became the Tennessee Titans. The Titans ARE the Oilers, whether that hurts your delicate sensibilities or not.
In some true poetic justice, it is widely speculated that new Titan DeAndre Hopkins will model the new digs. This is notable, of course, due to Hopkins being a longtime Texan.
The uniforms will be officially revealed at 8pm central time on Sunday, July 23rd.
