Delusional Butch Jones blames Tennessee fans for negativity

If you ask Butch Jones, he’s not on the hot seat in Jonesboro. No, according to Jones, much of the negativity is “from another fanbase,” obviously referring to Tennessee.

Jones proceeded to say he “doesn’t pay much attention to that,” which is just obviously a blatant lie. Jones is up doom scrolling on Twitter all night, or at the very least, has interns report back on what people are saying. Jones has been removed from Knoxville for almost six years now and Vol fans still live in his head rent-free. It’s borderline sad at this point.

Jones’ Arkansas State team got thoroughly dismantled by the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 1. Yes, OU is a good team. However, State is a once-proud program that should never be obliterated in such an embarrassing manner. This is a D-I school against a D-I school- 73 points should never be the margin of victory in a game like this.

How did Jones respond immediately following the loss? Exactly how you’d expect him to. Jones went on a strange rant in which he blamed the players and specifically pointed to the linebackers not blitzing when they were supposed to. As if a linebacker missing a blitz was the determining factor in the game. Jones then opined on how when he got to Jonesboro, he didn’t have “players who cared,” but now he does. Well, that’s great news, Butch! It’s great to hear that the current players care. How long will that last if they keep getting thrown under the bus?

It is unfathomable that Jones had the balls to blame Tennessee fans for the negativity surrounding his program. It’s almost like he’s self-aware at this point and just messing with us. Butch’s Red Wolves play their home opener this weekend against Memphis. Is there any way this game isn’t another bludgeoning? I can’t wait to hear about how mean Tennessee fans are after Butch gets throttled again.
