Post Game Reaction — Pathetic Titans Fall to the Lowly Jaguars

The Titans just blew the most winnable game they’ve had all season. After being up for nearly 54 minutes in the game — not by much — the Titans allowed the Jaguars to drive down the field for a game winning TD with 6 minutes and 46 seconds left. The nearly 7 minutes left in the game proved to be too little for HC Brian Callahan and QB Will Levis to score a TD. The Titans had a couple chances to score a TD this game: 1. Pass the ball to Chig Okonkwo on 4th down 2. NWI bringing down the pass in the endzone.

Will Levis reverted to the mean today against the “worst” team in the NFL, the now 3-10 Jacksonville Jaguars playing with a backup QB. He threw for less than 175 yards while managing a 59% completion percentage. Although, Levis didn’t turn the ball over he also did put any points on the board either. The defense did their absolute best for most of the game as they went 3 full quarters and then some only giving up 3 points. Unfortunately, for the rag tag Titans defense, that wasn’t enough to secure the team a victory. The Titans offense failed time and time again in unfathomable fashion.

HC Brian Callahan deserves all the blame. He has consistently coached the most undisciplined team in the league. The Titans lead the league in penalty average per game and it hasn’t got any better. When Callahan needed the last ditch offense the most to do something NPF characteristically committed a false start that turned a 4th and 10 in to a 4th and 15. That’s inexcusable behavior for a team that is supposed to have one of the best OL coaches in the league. In addition, Callahan didn’t do Levis any favors earlier in the game as he called run after run after run and then expect QB Will Levis to convert a pass to keep the drive alive. Yes, the Titans run game was working early in the game and throughout. However, at some point you have to get your QB in sync with their receivers because at the end of the day it’s usually always going to come down to the QB. Yet again, that was the case with Levis and Callahan failing (twice) to score when the team needed it most.

This team is a complete disaster and deserves a reckoning. I’ve said before the Brian Callahan is not fit to coach this team and nearly every week since Week 6 has proven that outright. The Titans are one of the worst teams in the league and they’re on track for a top 5 pick, or hopefully higher. The Titans are still sitting at the 6th pick in the draft. The Titans need all the help they can get and they should take a VERY hard look at the top QBs available this year. You can say what you want about how bad this team is…at the end of the day the QB is the most important position on the field and the Titans don’t have a franchise QB behind center. There were too many chances for Levis to show that today, again, against the worst pass defense in football and yet he didn’t.

What’s Next:

The Titans take on the Bengals next week at Home. That should be a butt whooping like never seen before. I don’t expect the same game that the Titans had against the Bengals last year where they got spanked. I’m sure they remember good and well what the Titans did last year and aren’t going to allow that to happen again.
