Post Game Reaction — The Titans Get Clobbered By The Bengals
The game went pretty much exactly how one should have expected. The Titans were clearly outclassed by the Bengals all over the field today. The Bengals easily defeated the Titans 37 -28 and it wasn’t even that close. It took until 10:30 in the 4th quarter for the Bengals to finally launch a punt. It also took midway in the 3rd quarter after Levis’ 3rd interception for Callahan to pull the plug. All around the Titans are a mess. The Titans don’t even look like an NFL team.
Head Coach Brian Callahan has lost this team. They are consistently undisciplined, outcoached, and disorganized. Callahan deserves most of the blame again today. He’s the “leader” of the Titans on the field and it’s clearly not showing up. He was brought in to help Levis and the offense be competent after having one of the worst offenses last year. However, it’s even worse this year despite the infusion of talent around the team. Yes, the Titans dealing with injuries, but so are other teams. The difference is competent playcalling, not QB draws on 3rd and 15. The difference is top tier teams don’t commit dumb penalties, not false start and illegal formation penalties to help lead the league in penalties. The Titans are objectively one of the worst teams in the NFL. If the Raiders and Giants were to lineup against the Titans this season I’m not so sure the Titans could pull off the win. IT’s BAD.
Will Levis has once again proven that he' is not the franchise QB of this football team. Fans that were holding out hope for him need to come to grips that the Titans have a serious problem on their hands come 2025. The Titans may not be high enough to draft one of the top QB’s in the draft and clearly Will Levis can’t go into next season as the team’s starter. After throwing 3 picks and less than 90 yards in 2.5 quarters he was benched for Mason Rudolph. Someone play the sweet chin music because this man needs to be put to pasture (figuratively speaking). Levis was supposed to be the franchise QB but he’s proven so often this past season that he can’t live up to Titans’ fans expectations. Now whether Levis starts the next 3 games is certainly in question and he 100% doesn’t deserve to start for this franchise again. I’d be surprised if Levis isn’t on the trading block in the next couple months for a late round pick. This fanbase should be irate if Levis starts again in 2025.
The defense did most of what they could today given the unfortunate situation they found themselves in from Levis’ mistakes. The intercepted Joe Burrow twice and stripped him once. The defense had the Titans offense in position to pull ahead enough times to win the game. Unfortunately, the Titans offense just didn’t make due with the help they were given from the defense. Some good news though was that awesome strip by Sweat and subsequent run for about 30 yards. Kudos to Sweat for putting up one of the few highlights from the game along with Spears’ TD run.
What’s Next:
The Titans will take on the Colts in Indianapolis next Sunday. Hopefully Will Levis is benched and doesn’t snap the football again. Mason Rudolph looked much more comfortable (albeit in a blowout loss) playing QB. This will also be Anthony Richardson’s first game against the Titans since last year in which he was unable to finish the game after a hard tackle by Harold Landry.
In addition the Titans draft position moved up to 5th overall. So there’s definitely some good news. Make sure to root for the Raiders and Giants the rest of the way and to lose out if you’re intrigued by having the #1 pick
