Post Game Reaction — The Titans Fall in the Lion’s Den

The Titans have once again completely embarrassed themselves. There’s almost too much to get into when dissecting this game and accumulating for all the miscues. Long story short the Titans lost 52 to 14. The Titans showed themselves to be severely outclassed by an elite team like the Lions. The Titans were so badly outplayed the Lions took out Goff at the beginning of the 4th Quarter to give Hendon Hooker some reps — ya, things are BAD in Tennessee.

After once again front loading points in the early part of the game the Titans went scoreless in the second half. They looked completely inept in every facet of the game — offense, defense, and special teams. The Titans cannot keep playing football the way they have after 7 weeks — and yet Coach Callahan and the Titans players continue to let that be the case week in and week out. The special teams was by far the worst part of the team. They gave up a TD to former Titan Khalif Raymond and allowed plenty of return yards with each punt return and kick return. In total net yardage the Lions didn’t do much in the passing game. However, they were able to capitalize easily off of the short field they had to work with from special teams. The running game however, was atrocious. The Titans defense couldn’t stop the Lions run game as it put up 164 yards mostly in the first 3 quarters before Gibbs and Montgomery were pulled.

The Titans have a massive problem. They’re the worst team in the league. The coaching isn’t helping and the players clearly aren’t buying in to the season. As the wheels have fallen off this season you can see more and more Titans players are starting to check out. Even Callahan looked dismayed on the sideline as the game was getting out of hand in the 3rd quarter. This team is done, cooked, burnt, finito, no más. It’s unfortunate that realistically this team was over after the Colts game in early October. It’s not going to be November before the Titans might get a win against the Patriots next week which is their best chance.

The Titans outgained the Lions 2:1 and had some success with Ridley (in the first quarter mostly) and Tony Pollard throughout the game. However, it was painfully obvious early on the Titans weren’t going to pull this one out. The same problems keep persisting and yet there’s no salvation coming in the 2024 season. The Titans need to go all out in the draft and this offseason to fix their woes which span from Coach Callahan to Chig Okonkwo.

Titans fans have a right to be frustrated. This season was not billed to be a season in which nearly 99% of the fan base has checked out before Halloween. At some point soon Amy Adams Strunk needs to get involved and make a strong change in this organization. This team is beyond past that point and no one should blame her for making a change. Since two weeks ago I’ve called for Callahan to be fired. Each and every week is only going to compound the absolute expletive show that is the 2024 Tennessee Titans.

What’s Next

The Titans will return home to take on the New England Patriots who may or may not be with Drake Maye. However, that shouldn’t matter one bit as the Titans are at such a dysfuntion Jacoby Brissett can tear up this defense. Will Levis may make his reappearance next week. However, his return won’t make or break this team. There are far too many issues woven throughout this team to make a difference.
