Titans-Jaguars: Preview and Prediction
Week 11 is here and the Titans 2023 future is all but cemented to looking towards a rebuild. While on the way, we can get some answers on Will Levis and the Titans’ offense with a trip down to Jacksonville, going head-to-head with the AFC South leader. With a 20-6 road loss last week in Tampa, the Titans have a lot of question marks. The team also has a few notable injuries, with Burks being the most harmful. The good news is Dillard won’t be able to play “freeze and let defenders right on through.” And, in bigger news, Tannehill is active as the number two QB behind Levis. All in all, the Titans seem to have one of their healthiest weeks going into Jacksonville. Can the Titans’ defense step up and stop Lawrence and his Jags’ offense? And can Levis and Henry do enough to win? I believe so. The Jags, like the Titans, compete for the worst O-Line in the league. And Lawrence has more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (9). The Titans’ defensive line, headed by Big Jeff, will give Lawrence a lot of trouble and the Titans’ defense is slightly better on touchdowns allowed (15) compared to the Jags (22). One thing that stands out, is the Bucs and Jags defenses mirror each other with the Jags up just one spot. The Jags’ rush defense ranks 5th in the league but their pass defense ranks as one of the worst at number 30 just ahead of the Bucs. The King Henry and Spears tandem with Levis’ arm should help this rush game and run for more than 100 yards. And with the run game, comes big shots downfield for Levis and Hopkins to take and score some points, something Tennessee isn’t keen to doing. So how does the 1796 Sports staff view this week 11 game? We give some answers below.
Dustin: 24-17 Titans- The Jags’ defensive line is good and Levis will have to survive but I think the run game picks up and gives Levis just enough openings deep to capitalize on the Jags’ terrible pass defense.
Bryce: Titans 27 Jags 20- The Titans have owned the Jags over the past decade. Even though the Titans are down right now, Will Levis will make enough plays to beat the Glitter Kitties.
Code Orange: 31 Jaguars 17 Titans- Titans vs Jags will unfortunately be mostly one-sided. For whatever reason everyone else can realize if Henry touches the ball 20 times or more we win but the coaching staff. Will Levis will show flashes of promise throwing a pair of touchdowns but all in all the Jags get back on track with a big division W.
Ryan: Jags 31 Titans 20- A continued revolving door at LT detonates a few promising drives and the Titans’ pass d can’t keep up with Tlaw and his targets.
Vol of the Wild: Jags 35 Titans 21- Levis is legit but he needs a line. This won't be an overnight fix. The signing of the Panthers lineman might help but shoot, this is a two-year rebuild.
The VFL Show: Jags 24 Titans 17- It’s a losing sports weekend for Tennessee as the Jags get back on track against the Titans 24-17. Trevor Lawrence throws for 2 TDs.
