Post Game Reaction — Titans defeat the Dolphins on MNF
The Titans went into the game against the Dolphins the same way they started many games throughout the season. With a Will Levis turnover. However, that didn’t stop the Titans offense as they overcame an early injury to Will Levis which knocked him out of the game the rest of the way. Mason Rudolph played admirably as he lead the Titans on several scoring drives throughout the night. The Titans also defeated the 30 point curse that has plagued the franchise for years after winning 31-12. Perhaps now that monkey is off their back we’ll see more high scoring games from the Titans offense. The biggest storyline — more so than the victory — is the injury to Will Levis. Brian Callahan gets his first victory over the hapless Dolphins in Miami on MNF. The game probably wasn’t what he had in mind but nonetheless Coach Callahan will take the victory as he heads into the bye week.
The Titans are lucky that they have an early bye week in the season during Week 5 with some of these early injuries. Regardless, I’m not certain Brian Callahan will be so keen to give the reins back to Will Levis. It’s possible that Mason Rudolph once again finds himself the starter until he’s not. What that would signal would be an early end to the Will Levis era. It would be one of the most short lived QB eras in Titans history. One thing the Titans can’t do is go into 2025 and not have an ansewr at QB. That question will have to wait. For now it’s the bye and the Titans have an opportunity to come out of the bye as a new team.

The Titans biggest success in their win over the Dolphins was their ability to run the ball. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears found their groove after the first quarter. Both Pollard and Tyjae combined for 128 yards on the ground and 2 TDs. Whereas, early on, when Levis was at the helm the running game was substantially hindered. Enter Rudolph and the Titans had a much easier time moving the ball. I’m not saying that’s necessarily the reason, but it’s something of note.

The Titans defense certainly came to play. They did a phenomenal job limiting Tyler Huntley, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Devon Achane. The Miami Dolphins team that has been known for getting the ball to their playmakers struggled mightily to get anything going on offense. Harold Landry, Sweat, Sneed played a really solid game in limiting what the Dolphins could do. The Dolphins looked way out of their league on MNF. Which is surprising considering the key to beating the Titans has been to pass the ball and the Dolphins decided too late in the game to try that game plan with success.

Nick Folk was an absolute superstar tonight as he went 5/5 and made it look easy. Before the season started I opined that it was a mistake to let Narveson go and keep Folk. For that…I was so wrong. Folk has been as consistent as consistent gets. He played a phenomenal game and for that he deserves his flowers.
What’s Next:
The Titans go into the bye with an important question to have answered coming out of the bye week. Stick with Will or give it to Rudolph? The Titans will likely hold their cards close to the vest as they will try and make it difficult for the Colts to gameplan. The good news is…the Titans can’t hurt us any longer for the next 12 days.
