Report: Gerald Mincey enters the transfer portal

Tennessee offensive lineman Gerald Mincey entered the transfer portal. Mincey was initially slated to return to Knoxville for the 2024 season and start at right tackle before entering the portal.

Mincey spent two years with Tennessee after transferring from Florida in 2022. Overall Mincey played in 21 games and made 13 starts since 2022. The talented lineman only allowed two sacks this season. With that type of workload and a starting tackle position, it comes as a little bit of a surprise.

Mincey could just be looking to get more NIL money, or he could be seriously looking at other programs. Tyler Baron entered the portal last offseason before deciding to stay one more season. Or, maybe there’s a big-name tackle interested in coming to Knoxville and Mincey is looking ahead. We don’t know but we will soon find out.
