Tennessee Football: Vols have a massive recruiting weekend

The Volunteers’ run in the College World Series wasn’t the only massive headline on the UT Campus this weekend.

Tennessee hosted more than 20 big-time recruits for the 2025-26 class, including five 5-stars and ten 4-stars — most of which are blue-chip level prospects.

Among the biggest names were 5-Star Offensive Tackle David Sanders Jr., Wide Receivers Caleb Cunningham and Jaime Ffrench, and Defensive Linemen Isaiah Gibson and Jared Smith

The Vols were blasted on social media over the weekend for misspelling Sanders’ first name at a dinner Saturday evening, as “Davis” was written on the nameplate at his seat, instead of “David.” This didn’t seem to phase Sanders, though, as he told reporters that Tennessee “did a great job.”Sanders’ top-5 consists of Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson and Alabama. Clemson is rumored to be the favorite to land the big-time Tackle.

Ffrench is a former Alabama commitment. He is a tremendously talented receiver out of Jacksonville, Florida. However, Ohio State is in the lead for his services according to 247 sports.

“The people in the building really showed me why I should be a Volunteer,” Ffrench told Rivals.com following his visit. Ffrench’s decision date is August 31.

The No. 2 WR in the nation, 5-Star Caleb Cunningham, may have had the best quote of the weekend during his time on Rocky Top. He and 5-star quarterback commitment George MacIntyre shared a moment at the top of Neyland Stadium over the weekend and the WR envisioned himself playing on Shields-Watkins field.

“We were at the top of the stadium yesterday looking down and saying, just imagine (MacIntyre) throwing me the ball and the fans going crazy,” Cunningham said to VolQuest. The Mississippi native is highly considering staying in-state. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the predicted landing spots, but the Vols are now “high on my list,” according to Cunningham

Many videos of the weekend surfaced on social media, revealing “Club Neyland” where recruits were walking down an orange carpet, fully dressed out in game day gear and showing off their moves to their song of choice.

The Vols have become a serious force on the recruiting trail in recent years, and Head Coach Josh Heupel has proven he can land some of the best players in the nation. This year is no different, as the Vols look to provide a supporting cast for the future.
