Tennessee lands former Temple defensive back via transfer portal

The Vols have made another addition in the transfer portal. Former Temple defensive back Jalen McMurray took to social media to announce his commitment to the Vols.

The DB collected 39 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 4 pass defenses in 2023 for the Owls. McMurray primarily lined up as an outside corner for the Owls, so it’s interesting to see where he’s deployed in the Vols’ unit.

The Vols have seen a ton of defensive backs leave this offseason. Doneiko Slaughter, Wesley Walker, Brandon Turnage, Warren Burrell, and more have announced their departure. However, the Vols have added a few as well: Jermod McCoy and Jakobe Thomas, from Oregon State and Middle Tennessee respectively, should help offset the losses.

Now, McMurray is added to the mix as well. The Vols will have a young DB group, but there is a decent amount of experience here as well.
