Tennessee reportedly in the mix for top 2025 QB

The Tennessee Vols have been on a recruiting tear the past two weeks. The team landed 3-star corner Colin Brazzell and 4-star tight end Jack Van Dorselaer for the 2025 class. Tennessee also picked up a talented corner out of the portal, Jalen McMurray from Temple, who had a tremendous season in 2023. But, there may be some even bigger news on the horizon.

On Monday, 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported that George MacIntyre will soon decide between Alabama and Tennessee. And, it’s reported that “Tennessee is in the best position” to secure a verbal commitment from the second highest-rated passer in the 2025 class.

George MacIntyre is rated as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the 9th overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 182-pound MacIntyre, who hails from Brentwood, TN, threw for 2,3411 with 19 touchdowns to lead Brentwood Academy to a 9-3 record in 2022. The team also earned a Tennessee Division II-AAA state semifinal appearance. He is expected to decide in late January or early February.

If Tennessee picks up MacIntyre, it could be argued that Tennessee might have the best QB room in Vols history.
