2024 NFL Draft: Complete 7-round mock for the Tennessee Titans

The draft is officially NEXT week! We’re on the precipice of easing our minds from the barrage of mock draft after mock draft. However, what can one more mock draft hurt. We’ll dive into my latest mock draft where I’ll do my best to build the Titans a solid roster with their plethora of holes. First, we need to determine the Titan’s draft needs currently in order of most important positions to address: LT, DL/Edge, WR, ILB. The Titans recently traded a 7th round pick #227 overall for Brown backup LT Leroy Watson. I think this is a solid move by Ran and undoubtedly Bill Callahan to address the offensive tackle position with depth, key word depth. The 24 year old 6’5 311lb Watson clearly has a good relationship with Bill Callahan and showed Bill his potential from his time in Cleveland. Watson is credited with playing in 7 games and registering 55 snaps. Seven games last year is a small sample size, but what’s not to be missed is how much time he’s spent around Bill Callahan. The countless hours of practice, film review, and workouts were obviously enough for Callahan to give the go-ahead for this move. I wrote a piece earlier about ‘Identifying the Titans’ Biggest Need’ which goes in-depth analyzing the current needs of the Titans. Although we added Watson I wouldn’t rule out adding an offensive tackle early in the draft.

Brian Callahan had a news conference this past week where he spent answering the many questions that reporters fielded him. One of his answers regarding how the Titans will handle the draft may have been telling. Teresa Walker who covers the Titans wrote on Twitter, “Says players added has “opened our ability to be more open-minded in the draft.”” This quote in particular leads me to feel they might attack the draft by prioritizing BPA. Not to say none of the picks they make won’t address a need. Only meaning that I don’t believe they’ll reach on a player of need.

Before unveiling the mock let me give you the parameters I used.

1. This is me trying to do my best to help the Titans AND what I feel the Titans are thinking as well. Especially given Top 30 visits and meetings from the combine.

2. I used PFN’s Mock Draft Simulator and made decisions based on what the computer did before me.

3. If the computer did something outrageous I started the draft over. Example. If Marvin Harrison Jr. fell to 7 or the Bears take anyone not named Caleb Williams #1 overall

Now, let’s get down to business.

Pick #10 Overall: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington (6’3 212lbs and an RAS score of 9.69)

It took multiple tries to get an accurate mock. On the 5th try I finally got what would be considered a realistic scenario. QB’s go 1, 2, 3. Then, Harrison Jr. , Alt, then Nabers. Zero trades…thus far. The Jets called wanting to move up to 7 for: 10, 72, and a 2025 2nd. After not having many picks this year and already losing a 3rd rounder next year I decided to execute the trade. I had my choice between Fashanu (my OT2), Fuaga, and Odunze. I went back and forth about a left tackle and Rome Odunze. However, one thing that I couldn’t shake is the feeling that the Titans won’t reach on a player of desperate need. So, I took the best player available and gave Levis an immediate weapon to grow with. Rome has many traits that make him a future WR1. One of my favorite attributes of his is how well he catches the ball away from his body, especially as he goes up for the 50/50 balls. Odunze can FLAT OUT PLAY. He’d probably be the first WR selected in any draft the past 2 years.

Pick #38 Overall: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston (6’7 331lbs and an RAS score of 9.69)

After picking BPA at #10 overall I wanted to fill our most pressing need in the draft. Patrick Paul is a mammoth of a human. He only allowed 5 sacks in his 3 years at Houston. He really impressed in the Senior Bowl and has been improving his draft stock steadily since he left Houston. With Bill Callahan coaching up this OL I have no doubt that our OL will be vastly improved since last year. Even if Paul isn’t ready to start right away, I believe that it’s a move that can be paired with Andrus Peat or maybe…hear me out, Radunz at LT (where we originally wanted him to play). Either way. Paul will be a welcomed addition in comparison to the Denis Daley’s and Andre Dilliard’s of the world.

Pick #72 Overall (From the Jets): Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State (6’4 292lbs and an RAS score of 9.97)

Braden Fiske is one of the most athletic DL in draft history! He ran an official 4.78 at the combine at 292. That’s freakish. He accumulated 6 sacks for the Seminoles this year with 17 total tackles. He’s shown himself as a really solid player in the past two years on Florida State’s DL. With our lack of depth along the DL after losing Denico Autry we BADLY need some more beef to be able to help Simmons get less double teams. This ought to do the trick. I doubt he even makes it this far in reality. I’ve seen him mocked anywhere from the 1st round to 3rd round.

Pick #106 Overall: Mekhi Wingo, DT, LSU (6’0 284lbs and an RAS score of 7.98)

“Did, did you just double-dip the chip?” Yes, yes I did. Mekhi Wingo has shown that he’s a player with immense potential. He was presented this year with the #18 jersey at LSU “which is only given to the player who best represents the traits associated with LSU football…”He played most of 2023 injured however he managed to notch 4.5 sacks and most importantly show his untapped potential on film. He’s a ferocious player. Honestly, I think his best comp is Jurrell Casey. Small in size but an absolute force of nature who can get under and around if needed and wreak havoc in the backfield. A DL rotation of Fiske + Wingo opposite of or rotating with Simmons would be nasty.

Pick #146 Overall: Tyrice Knight, LB, UTEP (6’0 233lbs and an RAS score of 7.41)

This is a weak class overall at ILB. Tyrice has the potential to be starter after a year or two at the position. He officially ran a 4.61 40 at the combine. He has shown the ability to lineup inside and make plays on the outside given his speed. He still has some work to do overall, but hopefully Knight can turn into a decent player for the Titans after playing on special teams and rotating with Otis Reese.

Pick #182 Overall: Josh Proctor, S, OSU (6’1 199lbs and an RAS score of 6.98)

Along with ILB this is also a weak Safety class. Proctor will need a lot of time to develop. Hopefully sitting behind Hooker and Molden will allow him to do so. Proctor will be older than most rookies when he steps onto the field on Sundays (if he’s activated). Proctor has spent 6 years in the NCAA. Just in the past 3 years he’s had less than 100 tackles and after 6 years only 3 interceptions. This is a perfect project for Dennard Wilson to hopefully see what he can do to get the best out of Proctor.

Pick #242 Overall: Isaac Rex, TE, BYU (6’5 250lbs Unknown RAS score)

After Brian Callahan’s comments last week I can see the Titans adding some depth to their TE room at this pick. Rex is a tough and big bodied player who once led the nation with 12 TD’s catches from Zach Wilson his Freshman year. However, this season he racked up 34 catches 422 yards and 3 TD’s and this awesome catch. I believe Rex has the ability to challenge Whylefor TE2 on day 1, which unfortunately, isn’t saying much.

Pick #252 Overall: Gabriel Murphy, EDGE, UCLA (6’2 247lbs and an 9.28 RAS score)

Finally, we get to the end of the mock draft. With it I took Gabriel Murphy who played opposite Latu. He put up some insane numbers at the combine: 39.5” vert, 10’ broad jump, 4.68 40, 1.6 10 yard split, and a slew of other measurables. Murphy checks all the boxes for what you would want in an athletic DE.He has a wicked swim move. He put up 8 sacks his last year at UCLA, undoubtedly helped by Latu. Nonetheless, he’s a player I’m surprised fell this far in the draft, but who knows. After day two things seem to always go haywire and players eventually fall through the cracks.
